I’m going to the dogs with book sales!

, on

The fold-up table and chairs are already in the boot and shiny new wellies ordered (and they’re just for Lionel, who’s freshly back from the Groom Room and Definitely Not Allowed Near Mud). My latest book-selling event is nearly here, and it’s a distinctly outdoors affair!

childrens-trailsOn Sunday I’ll be selling copies of my walking trails books at Greyhound Rescue Wales’ Greyt Summer Fayre near Ammanford, along with a talented pack of other creative bods such as Crafty Dog Cymru and Dandy Doodles Professional Face Painting.  Copies of my three books, Heritage Walks in South East Wales, South West Wales Children’s Trails and South East Wales Children’s Trails will be available on my stall (ok, it’s my wobbly old camping table), as well as a selection of other walking guides in Wales published by Sigma Press.

Perfectly timed for all those parents facing six looong weeks of school holidays, my books take readers to the hotspots and hidden corners of south Wales, including a trek to the very tip of Worms Head, a spooky stroll in the heart of Pembrokeshire and a breathtaking climb above Llyn y Fan Fach, named one of the most beautiful places in the world*. The latest book even has a really nice foreward from Derek ‘The Weather’ Brockway!

I’m super-proud to be one of the stallholders at the Greyt Summer Fayre, which is is held every year at GRW’s Hillcrest sanctuary in Garnant. The sanctuary opened in 2013 and helps ex-racing hounds in need of rehoming. In the last few years, the number of sighthounds and lurchers rehomed by GRW has risen fivefold, from around 60 to 300 each year, many of whom are injured and in need of recuperation and rehabilitation. Last year, Lionel was one of them!

In addition, my PR business Chatterbox Communications is sponsoring the ‘Beautiful Black’ category in the dog show, with a prize of a drawing of the winner by talented artist Katherine Parker. I’ve also been asked to co-judge the ‘Breathtaking Blue’ category – not an easy task, if the tales of previous controversies are to be believed – whilst Lionel is sure to trot off with the ‘Most Handsome Male’ prize, of course!

So come along from 10.30am for handmade gifts, delicious food, an ‘Oh Do Behave’ training display and much, much more. And pop by my wobbly table stall and say hello!

* by everyone who goes there, which makes it nearly official.
